The online home of the 111th (Bolton) Field Regiment during the Second World War

The 111th (Bolton) Field Regiment, Royal Artillery, was a distinguished unit of Britain’s Territorial Army, formed on 1 July 1939 in the Lancashire town of Bolton. Descended from the original Bolton Artillery established in 1889, the regiment was mobilised just before the outbreak of the Second World War. Initially tasked with home defence, it later saw extensive action overseas, including pivotal roles in the Second Battle of El Alamein, the Italian Campaign, and special operations alongside Tito’s Partisans in Yugoslavia.
